Northampton have signed former Darlington striker Tadgh Purcell on a two-year deal.
The 25-year-old Irishman was a rare highlight for Quakers fans last season as they were relegated from the Football League, scoring nine goals in 22 appearances after joining in January.
Cobblers boss Ian Sampson said: "There was a lot of interest in Tadgh, so I'm pleased we have got him."
He added: "We have had to be patient to get our man and have beaten off a lot of competition.
"To score nine goals in less than half a season for a struggling side shows the potential he has.
"When we knew he was a free agent we were keen to bring him in. He's a good finisher with a lot of physical strength and is a major signing for us."
