Cumbrians snatch point

Paul Thirlwell struck a stoppage-time equaliser to salvage a 1-1 draw at Colchester which kept Carlisle top of npower League One.

Colchester were the better side in the first half and took the lead just before the half-hour mark. Brian Wilson's deep cross was headed in convincingly from close range by on-loan striker David Mooney for his first league goal for the U's.

U's goalkeeper Mark Cousins pulled off a fine one-handed save to foil the impressive Madine shortly after the hour mark and Francoise Zoko hit the bar with an acrobatic effort before Thirlwell swept home from close range in the third minute of injury time to salvage a point for the Cumbrians.
