Darren Bent agreed a four-year deal with Sunderland last night - but was left waiting to sign by Spurs' delaying tactics.
The striker will become Steve Bruce's £14million man when Tottenham finally get round to processing the paperwork today.
Bent's move was complicated by a four-letter rant on the player's Twitter site directed at Daniel Levy, which led to him apologising to the White Hart Lane chairman.
The ill-feeling that caused meant the deal has dragged on.
Bent was in Sunderland yesterday and quickly agreed personal terms, before waiting for Spurs to rubber-stamp the deal.
Sunderland will not be pursuing an interest in Spurs winger David Bentley or Michael Dawson after the problems during their efforts to sign Bent.
