Landon Donovan last night urged Everton to bring him back to the Premier League next month - as David Beckham ruled out a move to the Goodison side.
Toffees chief David Moyes has been linked with loan moves for the two Los Angeles Galaxy stars after Donovan's successful spell at Goodison last season.
And USA skipper Donovan made it clear he would like to go back to Merseyside if a deal can be struck.
Donovan, in Zurich to promote the USA bid for the 2022 World Cup, said: "I want to go back to Everton. How could I not after last time?
"But I have to be responsible to my body. I would say it is 50-50 at the moment. I have had two weeks off and if my body feels better I would say there is a good chance, but if I still feel tired then we will have to see."
Donovan added he would make a final decision in a fortnight but it seems Beckham is not interested in following his club-mate to Everton.
Beckham said: "It is always nice to be wanted by different managers and different teams even if it is on loan for a few months or on a more permanent deal. It is always nice.
"I have great respect for David Moyes from playing with him at Preston, and he has done a great job at Everton. But I am a Manchester United fan and it is too close to home."
