Debate: What next for Newcastle following Kevin Keegan's resignation?

The course of Mike Ashley's year-long tenure in charge of Newcastle United hasn't run smoothly at the best of times, but the past few days have seen him stumble from the farce of his Emirates lager controversy into a full-blown crisis.
The protracted resignation of King Kevin amid accusations of in-fighting and back-stabbing has thrown the club into turmoil.
Large, vocal sections of the Toon Army appear to have sided with their former manager and are now calling for the heads of Mike Ashley, his London-based lieutenant Dennis Wise and transfer supremo Tony Jimenez, and threatening to boycott the club until they go.
Names in the frame to replace Keegan include the likes of Didier Deschamps, Gus Poyet, Steve Bruce, Gerard Houllier and Frank Rijkaard, although fan favourite Alan Shearer has reportedly ruled himself out, claiming that it's too early for him to take the post.
But then again, the atmosphere at St James Park right hardly constitutes a selling point for the game's top managers.
So where do you think Newcastle go from here?
Who should the club bring in as manager?
Is Mike Ashley's position tenable?
Or do you think Kevin Keegan wasn't up to the job of running a modern football club, and Newcastle will emerge from this fiasco a stronger club?
