Derby skipper Alan Stubbs has called time on his long career - after discovering he needed a knee operation.
The former Bolton, Everton and Celtic defender was told he faced major surgery and a nine-month lay-off, so opted to retire at the age of 36.
Stubbs broke the news to the Rams and said his farewells to boss Paul Jewell and the Pride Park players.
He played almost 500 games after making his debut as a teenager for Bolton. Stubbs was also capped once for England B and picked up a handful of medals with Celtic.
