Wayne Rooney last night stamped his class on Europe to earn Manchester United an historic win - but warned the job isn't finished.
Rooney bagged two headers to take his tally to 25 as United beat AC Milan in the San Siro for the first time after a half-time blast from Sir Alex Ferguson's hairdryer.
Clarence Seedorf scored a late second for Milan and Rooney claims United's place in the Champions League quarter-finals is not yet safe.
"In the first half some people were not doing their jobs right," said the England star. "I got booked and I learned from it.
"In the second half we stepped it up and deserved to win. We were always the better side in the second half.
"I've been working on my headers and I'm delighted with that. It's a great result to come over to Milan and win in the San Siro to take back to Manchester. But the late goal keeps Milan in the tie."
Ferguson hailed Rooney, claiming he is in "devastating" form.
"It was a catalogue of mistakes at the start of the game and at half-time I wanted us to use Wayne Rooney more because he had the beating of them," said the United manager.
"In the second half Wayne carried on the form he has shown recently. He was devastating and they just couldn't handle him in the second half he was so dangerous.
"In the last two months there has been a development to his game. He has gained in confidence and confidence has got a lot to do with his form.
"He's always had great ability and his ability is as good as the best players in the world. What he has done is add goals to that ability. If he continues to do this, he must be regarded alongside the best players in the world."
David Beckham could only marvel at his England team-mate's class and he said: "When you're up against players like Wayne Rooney, it's very difficult to play against them.
"In the first half we played particularly well and if we had scored a couple more goals, then it would have been a different game.
"The thing is when you play against a team like United, you have to take the chances you get."
