Doncaster 2-0 QPR match report: The Sunday Mirror verdict

Billy Sharp scored his fourth goal in five games as Doncaster won for only the second time in their last 12 league matches.
The on-loan striker put Rovers in front early in the second half against a QPR side in fourth place before their visit to the Keepmoat Stadium. And Dean Shiels added a second to secure a deserved win that moves Sean O’Driscoll’s side out of the relegation zone.
Rangers had an early chance to go ahead when Wayne Routledge got to the byline and cut the ball back for Akos Buzsaky – but the Hungarian shot over from 12 yards.
Rovers seized the initiative on 52 minutes when former Manchester United midfielder Quinton Fortune’s cross was hit home from close range by Sharp.
Hoops’ Mikele Leigertwood then tried his luck with a long-range effort. But his left-foot shot was never going to trouble veteran keeper Neil Sullivan.
Shiels was presented with a sight of Rangers’ goal 20 yards out but keeper Radek Cerny comfortably saved.
Rangers were being reduced to shooting from distance when Rovers doubled their lead on 65 minutes, Shiels capitalising on a defensive mix-up to score with a deflected shot that looped over Cerny.
The Londoners finally managed a shot on target a minute later but Adel Taarabt’s free kick was easily dealt with by Sullivan.
