Joleon Lescott claims he played his best game in an England shirt against Spain.
The Manchester City defender was outstanding at Wembley and is hopeful he has staked his claim to a Euro 2012 place.
Lescott, 29, who won his 14th cap, said: “I think it was my best performance in an England shirt because of the opposition. Spain are world champions, they dictate games and your concentration has to remain very high.
“It was a massive test. They’re the best team in the world for a reason and we had to be good as a unit in the back four to contain them.
“They had a lot of possession in the final third but we’re very pleased to have kept a clean sheet.”
