Fabio Capello today insisted he was not feeling the strain of the England job.
Capello will come under renewed scrutiny if his side fail to respond to their World Cup debacle by making a convincing start to their Euro 2012 qualifying group against Bulgaria at Wembley tomorrow night.
But the Italian, who reported that Everton's Phil Jagielka will be fit to play after recovering from an ankle problem, maintained his conviction that he does not need to make any wholesale changes.
Capello said: "I am always enthusiastic about my job.
"When you win you are the best. When you lose, you are the worst. You have to live with both moments.
"Dealing with the criticism is part of my job. It is the job of the manager.
"It is easy to be happy when you win but we have to go forward. We have to be focused on the next game.
"I changed some things, but not a lot. I have selected new players. At the moment this squad is the best players who are playing in the Premier League.
"Some of the players had only been with me for a short time. Now I think they will be with me for a long time. They are really young players with talent.
"Against Bulgaria winning will be important for the spirit of the team and for the fans. It won't be an easy game because Bulgaria are a good team.
"They are a technical team who play with a lot of passes and their defending is really good. But I think we have to play against all the teams we have to win because we are at home."
Capello confirmed that Manchester City's Joe Hart has now become "my number one goalkeeper" while he will partner Jagielka with Matthew Upson at the heart of the back line in the absence of knee victim John Terry.
The Italian changed his normal training regime this morning, putting his players through their paces at Wembley and explaining: " We thought it would be good to know the pitch.
"It is easier to find the right boots. Also, the atmosphere at Wembley is different. You enter directly into the game. When we go out, we have to play without fear."
