Joe Hart has claimed England have a better squad to do themselves justice in next summer’s European Championship.
Manchester City keeper Hart was part of the England set-up which flopped at last summer’s World Cup in South Africa.
But Hart believes Fabio Capello’s new-look squad is tighter, stronger and more together.
Hart said: “We’re a good team, a good football nation, we have to be at tournaments like this. We will go into the tournament feeling very confident.
“As a collective unit, we always stick together. Even the lads in the stands do – we help each other out, we’ve got great respect among the squad and get the results we need.
“It’s a great vibe. It’s a good place to be. I look forward to seeing the lads, I look forward to the get-togethers and we enjoy coming together as much as we do.”
Hart believes the friendlies with Spain and Holland will give them a taste of where England stand.
“That should be a bit of fun, shouldn’t it?” laughed Hart at the prospect of world champions Spain coming to Wembley.
“We need to play teams like that because that’s who we’ll have to play in tournaments if we get through the group stages.
“We’re looking good. In Montenegro, the pitch and ball were terrible but the fans were amazing.”
