Euro 2008: Betfred's betting guide for Wednesday's games

Greece v Spain (kick off 7.45pm)
Spain are 4/6 with
Betfred
to inflict more pain and misery on Greece in tonight's Group D clash.
Although safely through to the quarter finals and likely to rest some key players, the Spanish should still prove to strong for the Greeks who have so far failed to score a goal in the competition and start the match as 4/1 no hopers.
The draw is rated a 5-2 chance, but with Spain having such strength in depth they must have a great chance of making it three wins out of three and cementing their position as 100/30 favourites to win the competition outright.
"Greece have failed to cut any ice in the competition so far and punters believe their defence will slip up again and allow the Spanish strikers to capitalise on what, on paper, looks a straightforward task for the Spanish," said Betfred spokesman Dave Metcalf.
"They are attracting plenty of hefty wages at 4/6 and even if they rest virtually all their start players they should still prove too strong for Greece. Our only is if the Spanish do a Portugal and field a team who really don't want to compete so that they can save all their energy for the quarter finals."
With uncertainty surrounding what team Spain will field, betting on the games first goal scorer has been light, and punters are looking for value away from the big names like Torres and Villa.
"Many backers are obviously holding fire until the actual team is announced, but the value is to be had now as those at the head of the market - Torres and Villa - may not be in the line-up and the odds of their team mates will then shorten dramatically," said Dave. "We have seen some shrewd money for Cesc Fabregas at 10/1 and also Andres Iniesta at 12s and they could be real value come kick off."
Best bets
To win match: Spain 4/6
First goalscorer: Fabregas 10/1 and Iniesta 12/1
Correct score: Spain to win 2-0 13/2
Match Handicap: Spain (-1 goal) 7/4
Enhanced double: Spain and Russia to both win 100/30
Russia v Sweden (kick off 7.45pm)
Russia are narrow 6-4 favourites with Betfred to secure runner-up spot in Group D when they take on Sweden tonight.
They need a victory to guarantee their place in the quarter finals as a draw would see the Swedes go through on goal difference.
In what looks sure to be a tight game, Sweden are 13/8 to win with the draw proving popular at 9/4.
"It's a must win for Russia and in my view everything will depend on whether they can grab a first half goal," said Betfred spokesman Dave Metcalf. "Sweden will be happy with the draw and are sure to have every man behind the ball in a bid to frustrate the Russians. However an early goal would scupper all their plans, and if the Russians can nab one then I think they will go on and win.
Russia's Roman Pavlyuchenko is 11-2 favourite to score the opening goal of the game with Sweden's Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who has already got his name on the score sheet twice, rated a 6-1 shot.
A 1-0 score line for either side is 11-2 favourite in the correct score betting on the game, but it is again the Russians who are proving popular to win 2-1.
"Russia to win 2-1 at 9/1 is the biggest loser in our book, and the scorecast for Pavlyuchenko to net the opener and the game to end 2-1 in favour of the Russians has also attracted interest at 55/1. Punters will be happy if that's the way the game pans out, but it will leave us needed a stiff Vodka to come to terms with the losses!" added Dave.
Best bets
To win match: Russia 6/4
Correct score: Russia to win 2-1 55/1
Scorecast: Pavlyuchenko to score 1st and Russia to win 2-1 55/1
Enhanced double: Russia and Spain to both win 100/30
