David Moyes insisted last night that Kevin Keegan has got it wrong... the Big Four cartel CAN be smashed
After watching Everton clinch a place in the UEFA Cup by sealing fifth place, Moyes immediately set his sights on Europe's more glamorous competiion. "Not only have we qualified for Europe but we have got 65 points and that was enough to get us in the Champions League a couple of seasons ago," he said.
"We put up a good fight to try to finish fourth so I think it is possible to break into the top four." Newcastle boss Keegan, summoned for crisis talks by Toon owner Mike Ashley last week, rather sarcastically suggested that he now accepts he was wrong to say that his team have no chance of breaking into the top four. "I've now been convinced by so many people who know the game that I was wrong," he said.
"I'll have to check my record books but I thought the same four teams have finished in the top four for the past six years apart from one season."
