Karren Brady is leaving Birmingham with an astonishing severance package and list of perks worth well over £1million which has stunned new owner Carson Yeung and fans.
Brum MD Brady, 40, has agreed to quit St Andrews after 16 years in charge following Yeung’s £80million takeover, which is very close to being completed.
And the terms of the club’s takeover document sent to BCFC shareholders yesterday reveal Brady is getting 12 months’ salary, two huge bonuses and a list of incredible other benefits.
MirrorFootball revealed on August 31 that Brady was leaving when Yeung’s new regime took charge after she landed a job on Alan Sugar’s TV show The Apprentice.
And Brady is going later this month with the following from the club:
*A year’s salary worth £179,372 as she has 12 months’ notice.
*A one-off bonus of £520,000 when David Sullivan and the Gold brothers sell their shares.
*A bonus of £260,00 for Birmingham playing in the Premier League this season.
*Use of an executive box for 12 months after leaving, including cost of all food, drink and parking.
*Two tickets in the directors’ box for each Birmingham away fixture for six months after leaving plus parking.
*Use of a mobile telephone at BCFC’s cost for a period of 12 months after leaving.
*Private health insurance for herself and family at the club’s cost for 12 months after leaving.
Brady’s package is the second time she has cashed in after taking up lucrative share options when Yeung bought his initial 29.9 per cent stake in City in July 2007.
Sullivan also stands to make around £25m with the Gold brothers sharing a similar amount after selling 40,757,026 shares between them at £1 each on top of their previous shares Yeung bought.
David Gold hopes to stay on at the club as a director but the takeover document details he must be paid £140,000 a year, plus expenses, if he does so.
Sullivan and Brady are both expected to team up together to takeover cash-strapped West Ham United after leaving City.
But it is Brady’s staggering pay-off terms which has angered supporters.
Richard Barker, who writes for Keep Right On, said: “It is amazing and fans won’t be happy about her taking so much money out of the club.”
