Ryan Giggs savoured a 10th Premier League success as Sir Alex Ferguson claimed it was "fate" that the veteran winger scored the goal that won United the title.
Giggs equalled Sir Bobby Charlton's record of 758 United appearances when he came on as a second-half sub - then capped that achievement by scoring the goal that retained the Premier crown.
And Fergie paid a special tribute to the 34-year-old, the most decorated player in the club's history.
"I think it was fate for Ryan to get the goal that mattered," said Fergie. "It was fantastic for him to do it.
"He's been a credit to the game throughout his career. I've known him for 20 years and it was fitting it was he who scored the goal that won us the title."
Giggs said the thrill of winning trophies was as strong as ever.
"I've said before that I'm not bothered about personal records because this is what it's all about - winning championships," he said.
