Fernando Cavenaghi profile: 10 things you need to know about the Spurs target

Tottenham have their eye on Argentinian goal-machine Fernando Cavenaghi, but how much do you know about the 25-year-old? Find out all you need to know with our Mirror.co.uk guide.
1. Cavenaghi joined Argentinian side River Plate in 2001 aged just 18. He made 89 appearances for the club before joining Spartak Moscow in 2004 for £6.5million.
2. In his first full season at River Plate he scored 17 goals in 23 appearances including a hat-trick against Estudiantes.
3. He joined current club Bordeaux in 2007 for a reported £6.5million and has played 46 times for the French club since then, scoring 25 times.
4. During the 2007/08 season Cavenaghi scored 10 goals in nine matches for Bordeaux.
5. He has played four times for the Argentine national side, making his debut in March this year against Egypt. He has yet to score an international goal.
6. As well as Tottenham, Liverpool have been linked with the striker. According to one report Rafa Benitez is willing to swap Dirk Kuyt for him.
7. Carvenaghi has said that he'd be up for a move to the Premier League. "The English Premier League is currently the best league in Europe. I know many Premier League players, even if there are not many Argentinians up there. Carlos Tevez, Javier Mascherano - I know them well. Why shouldn't I follow in their footsteps?"
8. He was a part of the Argentina Under-20 squad that finished fourth in the 2003 FIFA World Youth Championship.
