Ferry sinks Hamilton

Raith piled on the early-season misery for Hamilton as Mark Ferry's goal knocked the Lanarkshire side out of the Co-operative Insurance Cup.
Ferry forced the ball home from close range in the 68th minute of the second-round clash to secure a 1-0 win after the impressive Gregory Tade had seen an initial effort blocked amid suspicions of offside.
Tade could even afford to miss a late penalty as Hamilton failed to lift themselves following a terrible start to their Clydesdale Bank Premier League campaign.
Scott Dobie and Murray Davidson sent St Johnstone through to the third round in a 2-0 victory over a Morton side who had their chances.
Dobie headed the opening goal midway through the second half and Davidson finished off the visitors with barely 10 minutes remaining, calming the nerves of the home faithful at McDiarmid Park.
Alloa goalkeeper Stephen Robertson's early red card was the signal for Aberdeen to dominate their Second Division hosts in a routine 3-0 victory at Recreation Park.
Robertson's dismissal for bringing down Fraser Fyvie also resulted in a penalty put away by Paul Hartley to open the scoring and Rory McArdle claimed a second for Aberdeen before half-time with an easy header. Any lingering hopes of an Alloa fightback disappeared on the hour mark when Chris Maguire's long-range strike made it three.
Hearts eased into the third round with an emphatic 4-0 victory over Third Division strugglers Elgin.
Elsewhere, Dunfermline edged Clyde 3-2, with Andy Kirk (2) and Steven McDougall netting for the Pars and Adam Strachan and Marc McCusker replying, Ryan Flynn's 58th-minute goal gave Falkirk victory at Partick, while Brechin beat Dundee 3-1 on penalties after the teams had shared four goals over 120 minutes.
