Kettle Hughes won't call Hodgson black

Mark Hughes yesterday admitted he cannot complain about Liverpool’s pursuit of Paul Konchesky because he likes to re-sign his former players.
Roy Hodgson, who has condemned Inter Milan’s bid to capture Dirk Kuyt, wants to take the Fulham full-back to Anfield to bolster his side’s defence.
Konchesky is a doubt for Saturday’s trip to Blackpool with an “ankle injury” as he joins Arsenal-target Mark Schwarzer on the injury list.
Hughes signed his Wales stars Craig Bellamy and Robbie Savage at Blackburn - and wants Santa Roque Cruz on loan at Fulham now.
And though he called Liverpool’s interest in Konchesky as “not welcome”, he added: “It is understandable because most managers like to work with players they know and trust and that is obviously the situation with Rafa Benitez and a similar situation with Roy.
“He has worked with players and he will feel comfort if he has the opportunity to work with them again. I have obviously re-signed players I have worked with before and it works.”
Fulham have lined up PSV’s Mexican full-back Carlos Salcido as a replacement and he will fly to London to complete a medical “in the near future”.
But Hughes said there was no developments with the Schwarzer saga with the transfer window closing on Tuesday. “We have looked at possible options but nothing really has been acceptable to us,” he said. “We are as we were really.
