Fulham are plotting a £2.5million move for the Reading forward Dave Kitson.
Most of Roy Hodgson's signings this summer will come from abroad, but he wants to keep an English spine to his side.
A striker is top of Fulham boss Hodgson's priorities, following the departure of Brian McBride, and Kitson is now heading the wanted list.
Hodgson has also shown interest in Marlon Harewood, but he looks set to remain at Aston Villa.
Carlos Bocanegro yesterday left Fulham to join Rennes on a free transfer.
