Redknapp: Future England managers must be English - and I'll do it in 2012

Harry Redknapp has called on the FA to rule out ever appointing another foreign coach for the England team.
The Spurs boss - favourite to succeed Fabio Capello after Euro 2012 - spoke out after the Italian confirmed he will step down in two years’ time.
Should England fail to win in Poland and Ukraine the FA will have shelled out a staggering £46million in wages for Sven Goran-Eriksson and Fabio Capello without winning anything.
Redknapp said: “I would like to see an English guy get the job when Capello calls it a day. There are lots of lads out there, people like Steve Bruce.
“They would be just as good and just as clever given the chance. I really believe that.
“Capello’s a great manager now. If you look at his record - he’s top class.
“But hasn’t worked so far in terms of the World Cup. I want to see an English boy have a go.”
Eriksson raked in £4.5million-a-year over the five years he was in charge of England.
Capello’s salary is even bigger with the Italian having pocketed £6million-a-year since taking over from Steve McClaren in 2008.
Redknapp, poised to take charge of his first Champions League campaign with Spurs next week, admits he would take the job if it were offered to him in two years’ time.
He added: “People will always take it because, if you’re English, it’s the pinnacle of your career if you’re in management.
“You’ve got to take the job if you get offered it.”
“But the coaching badge in this country for English managers now takes three years to do. They have to go through all this psychology.
“If you can’t produce someone who can manage the country then what we should do is send them all over to Italy to do the coaching badge.
“Because if they do the Italian coaching badge they will be better off than they would be by doing the England one.”
