Gary Cahill will now cost a whopping £17.5 million after finally making his England bow.
Cahill’s 34-minute cameo against Bulgaria will have Bolton chairman Phil Gartside laughing all the way to the bank.
The Bolton defender’s appearance as a substitute has triggered a clause in his contract which slapped another £2.5m on his valuation.
Cahill signed a new deal at the Reebok Stadium 12 months ago that included a £15m escape route.
But the small print of the contract means the asking price will be increased now he has been awarded his first cap by Fabio Capello.
Manchester United, Arsenal, Spurs have all watched the former Aston Villa star regularly over the last two seasons.
And it will require a substantial bid to now prise the 24-year-old away from Wanderers.
Cahill is expected to earn his second cap against Switzerland tonight after Michael Dawson’s knee injury.
