Sir Alex Ferguson has paid tribute to Gary Speed following the death of the Wales manager.
Manchester United boss Ferguson, writing in his programme notes for tomorrow's Carling Cup tie with Crystal Palace, expressed the sense of shock and sorrow felt at Old Trafford at the loss of Speed.
"I would just like to say that here at Old Trafford we are shocked at the tragic death of Gary Speed at the age of 42," said Ferguson.
"He became part of our football family after settling in these parts as manager of Wales following a fine career as a true and honest professional. Our sympathies go to his family."
