Guus Hiddink is ready for life in the goldfish bowl of British sport.
As the new Chelsea boss revealed: "Nothing can be as bad as when I was manager of Fenerbahce in Turkey. My run-ins with the Turkish press were a lesson for life."
Bachelor boy Hiddink went to Fenerbahce in 1990 and had a season working in the madcap world of Turkish football.
"It was in Istanbul that I was framed," Hiddink recalled in his autobiography This Is My World. "This lady invited me to, let's say, drink coffee at her house. She said she was a huge fan of the club. She was a cute lady in a small pink top.
"I walked to her house at night. When I opened the door that night to walk home, all the paparazzi were there. Flash, flash, flash. All the cameras were there to frame me. I later discovered the lady in the pink top was a belly-dancer. Her stunt with me helped her push her act up from £300 to £700.
"When I met her again I said, 'Congratulations, you got what you wanted'.
"I went to the club president and asked him, 'What am I going to do?' He said, 'Don't worry. This is our world. Welcome to the papers of Turkey'.
He saw the funny side of it all."
Hiddink added: "From that day on I didn't panic when I was surrounded by beautiful women or women with a lowcut top. It's all about confidence and self-belief. If you have selfbelief and confidence, you can handle anything in the media.
I have learnt not to worry about stuff they write about me."
Hiddink ended:" When it gets a bit mad, I get my own back.
"During a training session the ball hit keeper Toni Schumacher's nose.
It was bleeding like anything. I said to him, 'You and I are going to have fun.
Let's pretend we've had a fight'.
I started bullying him when we walked off the pitch. The media were waiting. The blood was still pouring down his face.
"The next day the papers had a story, 'Hiddink knocked his keeper to pieces'. It showed they'll write anything without having the facts right."
