Harry Redknapp hailed in-form Roman Pavlyuchenko after the Russian hot-shot boosted Tottenham’s Champions League push.
But Tottenham boss Redknapp admitted he is becoming increasingly worried the club’s injury crisis may undermine their chances of making the top four.
Redknapp says Pavlyuchenko is giving him a selection headache after insisting he urged chairman Daniel Levy to turn down several big-money bids for the centre forward in January.
“Pav scores goals, that’s five goals in two and a quarter games and you can’t ask more than that,” said Redknapp. “It’s good, it gives me a nice problem, I’ve got good front men.
“He’s had the opportunity, he’s taken it and he’s got to keep taking it and keep playing like that. It’s up to him.
“He’s got a future while he’s playing well and scoring goals. We had a Russian club wanting to buy him and a Premier League wanted to buy him but I spoke to the chairman and said I want to keep him.”
Tottenham held on for victory despite Landon Donovan’s late miss and also Spurs midfielder Tom Huddlestone being stretchered off with a shin injury.
Huddlestone left White Hart Lane in a surgical boot and will have a scan today to add to Spurs’ injury woes.
Aaron Lennon has been told to rest for six weeks after suffering a groin injury while Jermaine Jenas will also undergo groin surgery on Wednesday.
Tottenham are also without David Bentley who has a groin injury, Jonathan Woodgate has a long-term groin injury and captain Ledley King is out again.
Redknapp added: “Tom is a top player for us, he makes us play, he’s a great passer. I don’t know how bad his injury is, it doesn't look all that good at the moment.”
Everton boss David Moyes claimed his team were worth a point but refused to blame on-loan midfielder Landon Donovan for his late miss which cost the visitors a point.
Moyes said: “I did think it was in, yes. I thought he was going to finish it off. It was a big miss in the end. Landon is disappointed. It happens in football.
“When we played Tottenham at Goodison it was two each and it should have been two each today. They’re fourth and we’re seventh or eighth. There isn’t a lot between the sides.
“We didn’t turn up in the first half. You could maybe say the same thing about Tottenham in the second half. Everton played some fantastic football in the second half.”
