Harry Redknapp has set Spurs a target of 19 points from their last 10 games to realise his Champions League dream.
Tottenham boss ’Arry has never finished higher than fifth at the top table, but at 63 he is finally ready to fly the flag for English managers in Europe.
Incredibly, only two Englishmen have ever managed teams in the Champions League – and both Ray Harford and Sir Bobby Robson are no longer with us.
The race for fourth place will tilt towards Tottenham if they beat Blackburn in today’s lunchtime kick-off at White Hart Lane, but Redknapp insisted: “We’re not favourites – Manchester City have a game in hand. Liverpool and Villa are still there. But the Champions League is where you want to be, for sure.
“Normally you only get your calculator out when you’re down at the bottom, and I’ve done that before. But we’re looking at another 19 points to stand a chance of fourth. We need six wins and a draw from somewhere out of some very tough games – Chelsea, Arsenal, Man United, and away to Man City.”
