Hull are still chasing Habib Beye despite having a £2million bid rejected by Newcastle.
The Toon want £4m and Phil Brown hopes a compromise can be reached with the Senegalese defender in the last year of his St James' Park contract.
"We've gone as far as a bid for Beye, but we're awaiting discussions at the Newcastle end," said boss Brown.
Wolfsburg last night completed the £9m signing of Newcastle striker Obafemi Martins.
