Hull City boss Phil Brown admits he needs to bolster his squad after being dumped out of the Carling Cup by Championship newcomers Swansea City.
Brown had no regrets about changing his entire line-up for the game and said some of the players still have a chance of featuring against Wigan on Saturday.
But he wants to bring in at least one new face before next Monday's transfer deadline.
"The defeat did highlight that we need a lot more strength in depth, and hopefully that will come before September 1," said Brown.
"We don't want to get past the deadline having not signed anyone and then get sucked into a fight at the wrong end of the table.
Brown is keen to find a striker who could start up front ahead of Dean Windass and Caleb Folan.
