Hull miss out on Alvaro Negredo and sweat on Sol Campbell deal

Hull boss Phil Brown is set to miss out on another transfer target with Real Madrid striker Alvaro Negredo ready to join Real Zaragoza.
Negredo was offered a more lucrative contract by Hull but Britain’s 50 per cent tax rule means that his £50,000-a-week deal is worth more at Zaragoza.
It is another setback for Brown who has struggled to bring in a top class striker this summer and Negredo had doubts after speaking to several Spanish compatriots in the Premier League.
Brown has already missed out on Bobby Zamora and Michael Owen while former England defender Sol Campbell, 34, a free agent, is also weighing up his offers.
Campbell has been courted by Newcastle and also Sven Goran Eriksson’s ambitious Notts County.
