I convinced TC to be our Hughton, says Wolves midfielder

Jamie O’Hara has revealed he talked Terry Connor into making his move to become manager of Wolves.
Former Spurs star O’Hara told Mick McCarthy’s former assistant he had the same qualities that had helped Chris Hughton step up from number two to sitting in the hot-seat. And O’Hara believes Wolves will prove his point by holding on to their Premier League status.
The £5m midfielder, whose last-gasp goal kept the club up last year, believes owner Steve Morgan got it right by turning to Connor after a fruitless 10 day search. He said: “I was saying to TC a few days after Mick went, you’re no different from Chris Hughton, why not give it a go? I worked with Hughton at Spurs. For 10 years he was assistant there, then at Newcastle, and when he became a manager people questioned whether he would have that authority.
“In the event he’s been one of the best up-and-coming managers in the game. What he’s done at Birmingham is one of the best jobs of the season. It seemed that after Mick went TC was taking training, while everybody was getting interviewed, yet nobody was interviewing TC.
“The boys were just saying the training was changing, he had his own ideas, and the lads felt he was more than capable of doing the job, and I think he thinks that way too.
“Getting that result at Newcastle last week when we were two goals down has given everybody a lift. This week’s been really good. And if he can keep us up then why shouldn’t he keep the job in the summer? You have to start somewhere.”
