Harry Redknapp has assured Tottenham fans that he can get the best out of Patrick Vieira.
Vieira, 33, is set to make a shock move to Spurs, despite becoming a legend at arch-rivals Arsenal where he spent nine years.
Many critics feel the Frenchman is past his best and has failed to make an impact at Inter Milan since moving there in 2006.
But Redknapp feels Vieira can transform the north London club and bring the best out of the young players in the Tottenham squad.
The Spurs boss points to the fact that he managed to get the best out of Stuart Pearce and Nigel Winterburn when they were in their late 30s when he was manager of West Ham.
Redknapp said: "He's been there and done it and the kids will respond to him.
"I took Stuart Pearce to West Ham when he was 37 and he ended up player of the year two years running.
"I took Nigel Winterburn when he was 36 and he was fantastic for a couple of years at West Ham.
"You need people who have been there and done it.
"I talked to Thierry Henry, he said he would give us so much presence. He's right."
