Crisis club Ipswich have signed a new goalkeeper - but cannot play him until the New Year.
Boss Roy Keane yesterday brought in fellow countryman Brian Murphy from League of Ireland club Bohemians.
The 26-year-old Murphy has been signed on a Bosman, but cannot play until January 1.
Keane, whose former England international stopper Richard Wright is out for four months with a knee injury, said: “Brian is a keeper with a terrific record in the Irish League. We’re not signing a kid here. He’s an experienced player who is coming to try to be the number one.
“He will have a mini pre-season leading up to the New Year when he can play for us.”
Inexperienced 25-year-old Arran Lee-Barratt is in the Ipswich goal at present following Wright’s injury.
Asmir Begovic was on loan from Portsmouth. But he was recalled a fortnight ago.
Earlier in the season Keane was rocked when Shane Supple decided to retire.
