Midfielder Johnnie Jackson has been allowed to leave Notts County due to personal reasons.
The 27-year-old former Tottenham trainee only signed a three-year deal at Meadow Lane last August but departs after only one season because of a desire to return to London.
"When a player is away from his wife and young child it can be very hard and sometimes you have to evaluate what is important in life. I completely understand and support Johnnie's decision - family comes first as I am sure our fans can appreciate that, " said boss Craig Short.
"Whilst I was looking forward to working with Johnnie this season, he leaves with my blessing and support."
Jackson's desire to return to London surfaced in February when he joined Charlton on loan. It is understood he is in talks with the Addicks about a permanent move.
