Jonathan Woodgate backs Middlesbrough boo boys

Jonathan Woodgate received a hostile reception on his first return to his home club since his £8million January move to Spurs - but said he would have booed himself if he was still a fan at the Riverside.

"I wouldn't have expected anything else from the Boro fans," Woodgate said. "I would have probably done the same in their position.

"Of course Middlesbrough fans will boo me - they've booed their own players before so I expect to get booed. I left my home-town club to join a team that was on the up, and is still on the up.

"I think it was 100 per cent the right move that I made."
