Juanito eyes top four

Atletico Madrid defender Juanito has targeted a top-four finish next season and a return to the Champions League.

Despite winning the Europa League and reaching the final of the Copa del Rey, Atletico were poor in the league last season and finished down in ninth place.

"Our numbers from last year aren't as good as we would have liked and we need to improve that," he said. "We have to be among the top four - that's our objective."

Atletico played in last season's Champions League, but were knocked out in the group stages.

Quique Sanchez Flores' side went on to win the Europa League after falling out of the Champions League and they will now face Inter Milan in the European Super Cup at the end of August.

"We are very much looking forward to that match, but anything can happen in a one-off game," he said.
