Kaka's dad holds the key to the Brazilian superstar's proposed £100million move to Manchester City.
Mirror Sport has learned that Kaka's father Bosco, who is his son's closest adviser, is due to fly to Milan to discuss the City proposal with their chief executive Garry Cook.
The Blues hope to persuade Bosco of their ambition to become one of Europe's top clubs and believe his father will help persuade the former World Player of the Year to join them in the world recordbreaking deal.
It is understood City officials will sit down with Kaka and his representatives within the next 48 hours and present their proposal to the player and his advisers.
But they must prove they have what it takes to become a major European force before the Brazil star will consider joining them.
Mega-rich City believe they can pull off their audacious plan to sign him in a deal worth more than double the existing world record £47m Real Madrid paid Juventus to land Zinedine Zidane in 2001.
But their hopes of signing the former World Player of the Year were dealt a blow when Kaka's agent warned City the AC Milan star would only consider joining a team capable of competing with the best in Europe.
Kaka responded to City's interest by declaring his loyalty to Milan but he is intrigued by the prospect of joining the revolution at Eastlands - if the club can match his appetite for success.
City's oil-rich Arab owner Sheikh Mansour will have no problem paying the staggering fee for the 26-year-old, as well as the player's exorbitant £500,000-a-week wages, which would dwarf the existing salaries of football's high earners like Robinho and Cristiano Ronaldo.
But the problem City face is convincing Kaka he can achieve his stated goals of adding to his solitary Champions League success with Milan and continuing to win titles and trophies.
The City delegation, led by Cook, have been informed Mark Hughes and his players must produce compelling evidence they are a team with a big future.
Yesterday Kaka, originally targeted by Dr Sulaiman Al Fahim who masterminded the City takeover, pledged his allegiance to Milan.
"I want to grow old with Milan," said Kaka. "My aim in the future is to become the captain. But after that maybe. I have turned down big offers. I will be here as long as they (AC Milan) want me here."
Kaka's agent Diogo Kotscho said: "If Manchester City are to become one of the top teams in the world they have to have a project to be the best. At this time then we can negotiate to join them.
"He wants to play in the Premier League and it's not impossible, but it will be difficult to reach a deal with AC Milan."
