Kevin Keegan to sue Newcastle for £8million - exclusive

Kevin Keegan has launched an £8million legal battle against Newcastle owner Mike Ashley, claiming he was forced out of the club.
The Geordie legend has lodged court papers for constructive dismissal and he is prepared to go to court to win his fight. Keegan is seeking to prove his job as boss was made impossible by Ashley and his officials, including chairman Derek Llambias, director Dennis Wise and transfer fixer Tony Jimenez.
He claims he was not given the final say over transfers last summer - in contrast with promises made when he took the job last January.
The case is due to be heard before a three-man Premier League tribunal. Any disagreements can be taken to the High Court, but Ashley may offer an out-of-court settlement to avoid the embarrassment it would cause.
Ironically, Keegan's case is backed by Newcastle's own publications, including their website and match programme, in which Wise said he had the final veto on transfer dealings.
Keegan, who had almost three years left on a £60,000- a-week contract, has maintained a dignified silence since he left the club.
