He may only have signed for the Los Meringues in January - and for a whopping 20million euros, at that - but he could be on the move again.
Here's everything you need to know about the man they call the Hunter ...
1) He was born in Drempt, Holland on 12 August 1983.
2) Before moving to Spain, he'd previously plyed his trade exclusively in Holland, turning out for Ajax, PSV, Heerenveen, De Graafschap and Apeldoorn as well as the Dutch national side.
3) A prodigious talent, he signed his first contract with De Graafschap in 1994 aged just eleven.
4) In the 1997-98 season, the 14-year-old Huntelaar was top scorer for De Graafschap's C team, netting an impressive 33 goals in 20 matches. In the 1999-00 season he contiuned to top the scoring charts, notching up 31 goals in the Dutch B League.
5) Now nicknamed the Hunter, Klaas-Jan was picked up by Eredivisie side Heerenveen, where he maintained his impressive scoring ratio with 34 goals in 46 outings.
6) In 2007-08, he scored 33 league goals for Ajax - the first player to do so since Ajax coach Marco van Basten, some 20 years previously. Huntelaar ended his Ajax career with an astonishing return of 105 goals from 128 appearances. Here's a compilation of his best 10:

8) He represented Holland in the 2001 FIFA World Youth Championship and made his senior debut against the Republic of Ireland on August 16, 2006 - inevitably he scored two and created two more in Holland's 4-0 win. He has a total of 19 caps and 11 goals for the Oranjes.
9) Following his big money transfer window move, Huntelaar has made six appearances for Real Madrid and scored one goal, against Sporting Gijon on Feb 15th, 2009.
10) His time at Real Madrid appeared to be numbered when he was left out of their revised Champions League squad earlier this month. UEFA forced the Spaniards to choose between Huntelaar and fellow late signing Lassana Diarra. Madrid plumped for the former Portsmouth midfielder. And now the Dutchman could be on his way to the Emirates in the summer...
