Lazio hijack Portsmouth's move for Mauro Zarate

Portsmouth's hopes of getting Argentine striker Mauro Zarate on a season loan have been hit by competition from Lazio.

Pompey have agreed terms with Qatar club Al-Sadd for Zarate who's hit four goals for Birmingham since January.

But Lazio reps are in Qatar trying to seal a permanent deal despite Zarate's £20m price tag.
