Hull City have snubbed Leicester's attempt to make Nigel Pearson their new boss, according to reports.
The Tigers are believed to have rejected an approach from the Foxes to talk to their former boss about replacing Sven Goran Eriksson.
Pearson left the Foxes in June 2010 after clashing with with then-owner Milan Mandaric.
But he has impressed with Hull and Leicester's new owners are believed to have made him their top target after lee Clark opted to stay at Huddersfield.
If the Tigers refuse to give their Championship rivals permission to talk to Pearson, he would have to quit the KC Stadium in order to return to Leicester.
A likelier scenario is the Foxes turning to another candidate on their list, with Dave Jones and Billy Davies being mentioned.
Pearson remains the bookies' favourite and yesterday he refused to be drawn on his future after watching hi side beaten by West Ham.
He said: "Speculation is speculation and I don't know anything about it. You'll have to ask the club.
"Why should I comment? I don't ask for reassurance when people are having a moan about me. I just get on with my job."
