Liedson profile: 10 Things you need to know about the Tottenham and Newcastle target

Brazilian forward Liedson da Silva Muniz, known simply as Liedson, is on Tottenham and Newcastle's January shopping list. Get the low-down on the prolific goal scorer.
1. The 30-year old striker is currently at Sporting Lisbon in Portugal and has a contract with the club until 2010.
2. Ten years ago though he was working in Brazil as a supermarket shelf stacker.
3. He began his professional career in 2001 when Brazilian club Coritiba signed him. He has also played for Brazilian sides Flamengo and Corinthians.
4. Since joining Sporting he has scored a whopping 119 goals in 223 games. In the 2004/05 campaign he was the Portuguese League's top scorer, notching 25 goals.
5. Liedson has never played for Brazil but has expressed a desire to play for Portugal a number of times. "I'm happy in Portugal and if I and everyone involved felt good about such a decision then I would have no problem with the idea. If there were an invitation, I would give it careful consideration," he has said.
6. His nicknames include "Levezinho" (the light one) and Lightspeed Liedson.
7. Liedson holds a number of records at Sporting. He's the highest scorer in the club's Champions League history and the most capped player in the entire squad.
8. In his first season with Sporting, the 'S' on his shirt was displayed incorrectly (it was flipped horizontally) but Liedson didn't mind, and took the error on as a trademark.
