Remy has been chased by the Hammers for weeks but their failure to agree a fee has left the door open – so new Kop chief Hodgson is now pushing through with an offer.
Tottenham chief Harry Redknapp is also considering Remy as he looks for a new striker but he would have to sell first so cannot join the auction yet.
Hodgson would like Remy to fly in to Merseyside immediately and sign on before the deadline for the Europa League.
The Anfield board are willing to give Hodgson cash for the man who may eventually be Fernando Torres's successor.
