Steven Gerrard hopes to resume full training tomorrow to prove his fitness ahead of Liverpool's reunion with Roy Hodgson on Saturday.
Gerrard has recovered ahead of schedule from his groin operation and is targeting the West Brom game for his comeback.
However he knows the final decision rests with Kenny Dalglish and the Reds boss will not risk his skipper at The Hawthorns unless he is fully fit.
Gerrard said: "I'm hoping to be in full training on Thursday and available for selection for the weekend.
"It's up to Kenny whether he thinks I'm ready or not. I'm really looking forward to getting back."
Later, Dalglish hinted that Gerrard's rehabilitation is ahead of schedule but revealed the recovery of defenders Fabio Aurelio and Martin Kelly from hamstring injuries had gone the other way.
"Steven's training so he has done really well to get where he is," the Scot told LFCTV.
"Fabio and Martin Kelly have had a setback with their recovery but Jonjo Shelvey is back training. Everyone has come back from the international matches and so far we have not had any injuries reported."
