Liverpool axe doctor hours after Comolli goes

Liverpool’s Australian doctor Peter Brukner has been sacked - the second shock departure within hours.

Highly-rated Brukner was brought in two years ago after making his name in his native Melbourne.

However, Brukner - who was also Australia’s national team doctor - has now left his post as head of sports medicine and science as part of a review that also saw director of football Damien Comolli move on.

Brukner’s departure leaves Liverpool with a second major vacancy just days before the FA Cup semi-final and weeks from the end of the season.
