What the Prem table would look like if the season started in January

Football, as we all know, is a game of two halves. But what if the season was as well?
Our friends at Opta have produced this eye-opening graphic to demonstrate what the Premier League table would look like if the current season had started on January 1st.
And it makes particularly uncomfortable viewing for Liverpool fans, whose side would be in the relegation places after winning just two of their eleven games in 2012. It also backs up our columnist David Anderson's assertion that the Reds are so adrift in the league nowadays that they could be considered a Cup side .
Tottenham fans might also be concerned that that their early season title push has been derailed to the extent that they now languish in ninth place. And despite their recent resurgence under caretaker boss Roberto Di Matteo, Chelsea are rooted firmly in mid-table.
There's little change at the top, although Sunderland fans will be thrilled to see their side in the top four following the appointment of Martin O'Neill.
You can see the full table below. And yes, while we're well aware that the season doesn't, in fact, start on January 1st, it's food for thought all the same.
