King Kenny reassures Liverpool fans over Gerrard comeback

Kenny Dalglish has assured Liverpool fans that Steven Gerrard is on the road to recovery.

Kop captain Gerrard has been sidelined for a month by an infected ankle and Dalglish is refusing to set a date for the England midfielder’s return to action. But the Reds boss has rubbished suggestions that Gerrard has suffered complications.

Dalglish said: “Steven is getting closer to coming back but we cannot put a date on it. There’s been no setback. We have said all along that we are really positive about his recuperation.

“Steven’s progress has been excellent and he will be back sooner rather than later.”

Dalglish’s words will be a comfort for club and country.

Liverpool have lost Brazilian midfielder Lucas for the season, with damaged knee ligaments, while Gerrard remains key to Fabio Capello’s plans for Euro 2012.
