Birmingham are ready to outbid Liverpool in the race for David Bentley, according to reports on Sunday.
The Tottenham winger is desperate to leave White Hart Lane after struggling to get any first team action under Harry Redknapp, and has only made two Premier League appearances this season.
He joined the club from Blackburn for £17m in 2008 and had been hoping to recoup most of what they paid for him but now accept they will have to take a hit on the 26-year-old who may now be allowed to leave for around half of his Spurs' transfer fee.
Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson is keen on the wing man but will only be able to offer around £6m, while Birmingham are ready to go as high as £8m to get their man.
