Inter captain Zanetti: Mascherano would suit our club

Inter Milan skipper Javier Zanetti believes Javier Mascherano would be a great signing for the Champions League holders.

Mascherano's agent claims the Liverpool midfielder wants to be reunited with Rafa Benitez at the San Siro and Zanetti would love to link up with his Argentina team-mate.

"Mascherano?" he said. "He's a great player, he retrieves a lot of balls. He would suit Inter."

Inter's sporting director Marco Branca confirmed the club's interest in Mascherano, who is also a target for Barcelona.

"I can say that he is a great player," he said. "There are good players that we can take and others that cannot be taken. It depends from the requests of the clubs."
