Lucas rewarded with bumper pro deal

Swansea's young midfielder Lee Lucas has signed his first professional contract with the club, penning a three-year deal.

The 18-year-old Wales Under-19 international, who completed his two-year scholarship with the Swans last term, joined the club at the age of nine. Lucas has yet to make his first-team debut but was an unused substitute in last season`s games against Nottingham Forest, Watford and Sheffield Wednesday.

He told the club's official website: "It's great to get the opportunity to be a professional at Swansea City. I'm grateful at getting the chance and I'm just going to carry on working hard as I can in order to try and break into the squad."

He added: "It was a nice experience to be involved with the first-team (last season) as it helped me mature as a player and helped improve my confidence."
