Manchester City have made a formal request to the Premier League to bring in a goalkeeper on an emergency loan, after No 1 Shay Given was ruled out for the rest of the season.
Given dislocated his shoulder in Saturday's clash with Arsenal and his injury leaves City woefully short of cover between the sticks.
Rookie Faroe Islands 'keeper Gunnar Nielsen replaced Given at the Emirates but Roberto Mancini is not keen on leaving him in goal for City's last two crucial games as they try to claim a Champions League spot.
City also have former Arsenal keeper Stuart Taylor on their books but he is out with a knee injury, while fourth choice David Gonzalez is still suffering from a groin injury and Joe Hart is out on loan at Birmingham.
Meanwhile, the club have confirmed that Given will see a specialist in the next few days to assess his injury.
