Manchester City bid world record £100m to take Kaka from AC Milan

Manchester City last night tabled a stunning s100m offer for Brazilian superstar Kaka.
And they are prepared to offer the midfielder s25m a year in wages - a mind-boggling s500,000 a week.
Milan goalkeeper Dida could join the former World Player of the Year at Eastlands as the club's Abu Dhabi owners plot a double transfer coup.
The final day of the August transfer window saw City smash the British record with the s32.5m signing of Robinho from Real Madrid.
But the audacious attempt to sign Kaka from the Serie A side is an even bigger statement of intent from the world's richest club.
Dida, who has been out of favour at Milan for two years despite his s4m-a-year wages, would be signed as part of the deal.
Kaka is known to have become disillusioned with life at the San Siro after the signings of Ronaldinho and David Beckham.
Senior City representatives met with Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani at the clubs Via Turati HQ to discuss the possible block-busting deal yesterday.
Chief executive Garry Cook, two representatives of Sheik Mansour and Kia Joorabchian, who is acting as a mediator, met with Galliani and chief executive Ernesto Bronzetti. They were told that the Italian club would consider the bid and returned to Manchester last night without meeting the player.
But the devout Christian, 26, is thought to favour a move to Real Madrid and City may have to wait until the summer to close in on any deal.
Kaka spoke six weeks ago of his admiration for English football. He said: I like very much the Premier League because it is a very tough championship, a lot of big players, a lot of big teams, now I think it is the best championship in the world.
Asked then if he would be interested in joining City, he said: Yes I have a lot of friends playing there. I am watching some games - I am speaking with Robinho, Elano sometimes about Manchester City.
Milan have always refused to consider that move and last night club president and earlier Italian prime minister Silvio Berlusconi tried to play down Citys bid.
"I don't know anything about an offer from Manchester City, but I think Kaka is not for sale and will stay with Milan," he said.
But with an ageing squad and no Champions League football this season, Milan could now be tempted by the massive offer which would allow coach Carlo Ancelotti to rebuild his side during a difficult economic climate.
City boss Mark Hughes has so far this window failed in bids to sign Roque Santa Cruz, Craig Bellamy and Scott Parker.
